This month we welcomed 17 new students from Thailand, Mexico, Tunisia, Japan, Korea, China and Saudi Arabia. Our new split schedule is running smoothly and students seem to be well adjusted to the changes. We also welcomed two study tour groups; one from Thailand and other from France which added a very nice mix to our current nationality. April’s weather is always nice and warm, and outdoor activities is a lot of fun here in Orange County. Students enjoyed going to the beaches, shopping, and participating with GEOS activities.
Please meet Robert Churney, our new instructor.
Robert Churney has an M.A. from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Peace Corps and worked overseas as an educator for 22 years. He has been teaching ESL in Orange County for the 4 years. Robert is married and has two sons. His hobby is studying world history and culture. He thinks that GEOS is doing a wonderful job teaching English, promoting cross-cultured understanding and transitioning students to U.S. colleges.

Currently we have 18 nationalities represented in the school among our 187 students. We extend a warm welcome to all the students studying English with us!

My name is Giovanna and I’m from Brazil. I studies at GEOS for 16wks and I love it! There is no question that this has been my last life experience until now.
Before I came here, I was afraid about how it would be, how my life would be living away from my country, my family, and my friends. But I was very well welcomed by everybody here in Costa Mesa. My host family is amazing. They treat me very well and I have a host brother who is the cutest baby in the world. I’m so glad to have spent 4 wonderful months with them.
Here I made a lot of friends for different cultures. I went to many places and I can say that California is wonderful. I’ve been improving my English and everyone in GEOS is very kind. I’m pretty sure that I’ll never forget this experience. Giovanna Lorenzetti

They also went inside Madame Tussauds Wax museum and met face to face with many movie stars’ wax figures. Of course, nonetheless to say that Zack Efron is one of the popular figures!
-Disneyland: April 9th was the trip to the world renowned amusement park, Disneyland, where dreams can come true. It was very nice weather and the students stayed there until 10pm to watch the spectacular fireworks.
-GEOS staff members, teachers, and all the students got together and had an Easter Egg Hunting on April 21. The students enjoyed hiding the eggs outside the school. Later they have to find the eggs and some found a few eggs where others found more than Easter 10 eggs filled with candy. Some students hid them in very unique places. Some may be still hidden!
